One of the most frustrating things about managing a Facebook fan page has been keeping the thing fed. With hundreds of Twitter applications out there to help streamline your social media workflow, logging into Facebook just to post links seems like a rather archaic practice.
Facebook has previously updated to allow syndication of Twitter via a Facebook Page status update. Leading Twitter application Seesmic
Desktop has taken the lead and decided to make Facebook a whole lot more useful for marketers, allowing users to view and update Facebook Fan page without having to visit Facebook at all.
From the blog of Seesmic founder Loic Le Meur:
"You now can view and manage any Facebook Page you follow. Configure each Facebook Page to show up as a column, posts messages, and respond to comments and likes as you do in your personal Facebook feed. If you are the administrator, you can post messages as the administrator."
This finally makes Facebook fan pages just as useful as Twitter as brand marketers and journalists will now be able to easily feed both social networks from the same place.
However it would be nice if there was some way of working around URL shortening when posting to Facebook. Shortened URL's don't play nice with Facebook's built in page preview function. This is a little annoying as it would be nice to provide the full rich experience for fans. You can see the difference below:

Other key features released in version 0.6 of Seesmic include:
- Reply to all button
- Favourites column
- Integration with YFrog
